Sheba’s REACT 2023 Online Event: Advancing Cancer Care for The Benefit of Patients Worldwide

react 2023

On July 27th, more than 250 attendees from different countries and medical backgrounds joined the third REACT conference. The unique event, hosted by Sheba Medical Center, was created to provide doctors with insight into the latest advances in oncological care, ultimately aiming to improve cancer patient outcomes.

Vered Cohen-Herszaft, the Director of Sheba’s Global Patient Services, opened the event by reflecting on the spirit of international collaboration in the gathering. Yoel Har-Even, the Head of Sheba Global, followed, and shed light on the challenges faced by healthcare systems worldwide due in part to an aging population before presenting Sheba’s innovation-based solution.

Attendees, which included medical professionals from more than 25 countries, then took part in five professional lectures from Sheba’s oncology experts, each followed by a Q&A session.

Prof. Douglas Zippel, Director of the Meirav Breast Health Center and Deputy Chief of Surgery C and Surgical Oncology Departments, lectured on IOeRT in breast cancer and provided insight into his clinical experience. Next, Prof. Arnon Nagler, President of the Hemato-Oncology Center at Sheba Medical Center, explored CAR T-cell therapy, a revolutionary blood cancer treatment that programs a patient’s own altered white blood cells to destroy cancer cells, and Sheba’s revolutionary in-house process. Dr. Ronnie Shapira-Frommer, Head of the Onco-Gynecological Cancer Unit and Director of the Ella Institute for Immuno-Oncology, discussed gynecologic oncology immunotherapies, and Prof. Amos Toren, Director of the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and BMT Division, showcased Sheba’s innovations in Pediatric Hemato-Oncology. Lastly, Prof. Berger, Director of the Jusidman Oncology Hospital, addressed the impact of AI and big data on hyper-personalization in cancer medicine.

REACT 2023 is part of Sheba’s REACT initiative, an innovative knowledge-sharing venture designed to enable medical professionals to consult with Sheba’s experts and each other on complex cancer cases. It facilitates international collaboration and fosters global networking, ensuring patients receive the most advanced care available.

At Sheba’s Global Patient Services, we support healthcare professionals from more than 100 countries, offering educational events, clinical cooperation, and tailored collaborations.

We thank our esteemed lecturers and event attendees, who will join us at future REACT events.
