Lung Surgery and Lung Oncology in Israel
Lung cancer is extremely common, responsible for approximately 1.76 million deaths worldwide in 2018, according to the World Health Organization. There are two types of lung cancer – non-small cell lung cancer, which is much more common, and small cell lung cancer. At Sheba Medical Center in Israel, we offer the most advanced lung surgery procedures for lung cancer, when surgical removal is indicated as the best treatment option. Our skilled surgeons, pulmonologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists collaborate to personalize every patient’s lung cancer treatment.

Types of Lung Surgery in Israel
Several types of lung cancer treatments are available, depending upon the patient’s condition, location of cancer, stage, and specific pathology. Our doctors at Sheba may combine a number of therapies to achieve maximum results, such as:
- Lobectomy
- Pneumonectomy
- Segmentectomy
- Wedge resection
We also offer VATS (video-assisted thoracic surgery), a cutting-edge and less invasive method of surgical removal, most appropriate for smaller tumors located near the edges of the lung.
