FAQ: What is engraftment in bone marrow transplant?

Engraftment in bone marrow transplant is the process during which the stem cells that were injected into the patient’s bloodstream travel to the bone marrow. This process happens 2 to 4 weeks after the transplant, and during this time the bone marrow will start to produce new platelets as well as new red and white blood cells.
