Treatment for Metastatic Melanoma in Israel
Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) immunotherapy is a modern treatment for patients with advanced stage metastatic melanoma who have experienced little or no benefit from conventional therapies. About 50% of these patients show improvement with TIL and approximately 25% of patients are cured of their melanoma.
TIL is offered at only a few medical institutes worldwide, and we are proud to provide this innovative treatment for patients from the UAE at the Ella Lemelbaum Institute for Immuno-Oncology at Sheba Medical Center in Israel. Our campus is located closer to the UAE than Europe and the United States, and the cost of treatment is lower.
TIL immunotherapy is a type of cellular immunotherapy that uses your own cells, reprogramming them to attack the cancer cells.
Specific cells – tumor infiltrating lymphocytes – are extracted from the cancerous tumor and isolated in a specialized laboratory. There, the cells are genetically engineered to target and attack the cancer cells before they are injected back into your body.
Your immune system is thereby stimulated to produce a stronger, more focused response against the tumor cells.
