Thoracic (Chest) Surgery in Israel

Thoracic surgery, also known as chest surgery, involves the organs of the chest, including the chest wall – breastbone and rib cage, lungs, trachea, and esophagus. Types of Treatments at Sheba

Esophageal Cancer Treatment

we perform a range of advanced esophageal procedures, including:

  • Left thoracoabdominal incision
  • Ivor Lewis esophagectomy
  • Transhiatal esophagectomy (Orringer approach)
  • Three-hole esophagectomy (modified McKeown technique)

Lung Cancer Treatment

our surgeons will determine which type of resection is required: lobectomy, pneumonectomy, or a limited resection. We perform minimally invasive techniques (when appropriate), such as robotic surgery, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and lobectomy.

Achalasia Surgery

using laparoscopy, thoracotomy, or thoracoscopy.

Zenker’s Diverticulum Surgery

we perform the Dohlman procedure (minimally invasive endoscopic diverticulotomy) to divide the septum.

Thymoma Surgery

resections to remove the tumor.

Dr. Perelman, a member of the Department of Thoracic Surgery staff, specializes in pulmonary pathology and is a world-renowned expert in the field. She received her medical degree in Russia and completed specialized training in pathology and anatomy at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1995.
