Spine Surgery in Israel
When all conservative treatment methods have failed to resolve a spine problem, the next step is to consider surgery. At our Spine Deformity Unit at Sheba Medical Center in Israel, we feature one of the most experienced departments in the country, particularly in the treatment of scoliosis and kyphosis. We offer a variety of traditional and groundbreaking minimally invasive surgical procedures for the spine. Our skilled, multidisciplinary specialists join to provide patients with comprehensive care and rehabilitation after spine surgery, including physical therapy, medication, and helpful exercises.

Treatments at Sheba
We perform spine surgery on patients of all ages and offer a range of advanced techniques, with custom-designed procedures for each individual’s condition.
Treatments include:
- Posterolateral lumbar fusion with or without instrumentation
- Bone fixation, using screws and rods
- Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (PLIF)
- Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF)
- Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS): Endoscopic Discectomies, Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty
- Laminectomy
When necessary, Sheba collaborates with the National Marrow Donor Program to identify suitable tissue donors. We also use an advanced HLA (human leukocyte antigen) laboratory to analyze bone marrow for suitability. The HLA lab can perform high-resolution DNA testing to aid in evaluating stem cells to determine if they are a good match. Our pediatric bone marrow transplant experts also report regularly to the International Bone Marrow Transplant Registry (IBMTR) and to the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) on our clinical results.
Conditions We Treat
Our specialists at Sheba will assess each case to determine the most effective treatment for the following conditions:
- Intervertebral hernia treatment
- Scoliosis treatment – observation, bracing, or surgery
- Osteochondrosis treatment
- Vertebroplasty
