Should You Travel to Israel for Pediatric Neuroblastoma Treatment?
Advanced Pediatric Neuroblastoma Treatments in Israel
Neuroblastoma is the third most common type of cancer in children, but due to advanced treatments, the 5-year survival rate is now around 81%.
Neuroblastoma is the third most common type of cancer in children, accounting for 8% of all childhood cancers. It is almost exclusive to children under the age of five and is very rare among adults – only around 10% of cases occur in patients older than 10, and the average age of children diagnosed with neuroblastoma is 1-2. While the prognosis for adults tends to be worse, the 5-year survival rate of neuroblastoma for children is around 81% as a result of the advanced treatments available today.
Pediatric neuroblastoma begins in neuroblasts— immature nerve cells that a fetus makes as part of its development process. As the fetus matures, neuroblasts eventually turn into nerve cells and fibers, and the cells that make up the adrenal glands, which are responsible for producing hormones and are located above the kidneys. Most neuroblasts are mature by birth, though a small number of immature neuroblasts can be found in newborns. In most cases, these neuroblasts mature or disappear. Others, however, form a tumor — a neuroblastoma. While pediatric neuroblastoma most commonly develops in the adrenal glands, it is important to note that it can also develop in any part of the body that has a cluster of nerve cells, such as the chest, neck, and spine area. Available treatments for pediatric neuroblastoma include chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and bone marrow transplantation.

Benefits of Getting Neuroblastoma Treatment in Israel
Advanced Treatment:
Medical institutions in Israel and the US often collaborate in advanced cancer research, developing new and effective treatments against the disease, yet Israel has fewer constraints than the US when it comes to adopting novel treatments. Israeli clinical trials still adhere to the highest standards of safety, but innovative treatments are generally made available to patients sooner than in the US.
Quality of Care:
Israeli physicians are exceptionally well-trained and often spend even more time on their medical education than American doctors. Also, you can be assured of high standards and strict safety regulations if you choose a hospital accredited by a trustworthy authority.
Cost:
In many countries, healthcare costs can be exorbitant. Without insurance, the costs of cancer treatment can be crippling. Prices are much lower in Israel, averaging 30-80% less than in the US, for example. That said, you’re not trading affordability for quality, since Israeli specialists, medical institutions, equipment, and procedures are among the most advanced in the world.
