Science Dose: Understanding Pancreatic Cancer’s Resistance to Radiation

Pancreatic cancer, affecting 66,000 people annually, is highly deadly and treatment-resistant. Sheba's lab develops drugs to enhance radiation effectiveness.

It has been estimated that around 66,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year. The fact that it stands as one of the deadliest cancers makes the statistics all the more daunting, however, pancreatic cancer is also resistant to numerous treatment modalities. 

On this segment of Science Dose, Sheba’s Head of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Yaacov Lawrence, discusses the many facets of pancreatic cancer, including how its cells evade treatment. At Sheba’s Radiation Oncology Laboratory, our mission is to develop innovative drugs that enhance treatment efficacy for our patients. By increasing the vulnerability of cancer cells to radiation, we aim to significantly improve treatment outcomes.
