The Highest Honor
Sanofi bestowed this honor on the Clinical Research Unit in recognition of the Unit’s outstanding level of clinical research and effective management. This recognition is only given to select centers worldwide. The designation reflects Sanofi’s commitment to work closely with the Unit’s staff in offering groundbreaking new research.
The Sanofi Delegation
On April 10, 2018, a delegation of Sanofi officials arrived at the Clinical Research Unit at the Heart Center to officially announce the decision. The members of the delegation toured the Heart Center and were impressed by the inclusion of patients in clinical trials, the high level of research conducted at the Unit, and the excellent survival rate of patients in long-term studies.

The delegation was accompanied by senior members of the Heart Center, including Prof. Shlomo Matetzky, the Deputy Director of the Cardiology Division and the Head of the Cardiac ICU. Also present were Nava Eisenberg, Head Nurse of the Research Unit, and Prof. Michael Schechter, the Director of the Clinical Research Unit.
Prof. Schechter stated, “We are proud to be part of this project and to also be part of the BIG DATA program in the future that Sanofi is managing around the world. This is a refreshing innovation and brings hope for close and fruitful international cooperation in groundbreaking studies that will reach our center first, allowing us to treat patients with heart diseases more effectively.”
