Prof. Yael Peled-Potashnik Named as the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation 2021 Cardiology Excellence Award Laureate

International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation 2021
Prof. Yael Peled-Potashnik serves as Sheba’s Director of the Heart Transplant Service and Heart Failure Hospitalization Unit

Each year, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) confers the Professional Communities Awards for Excellence to recognize and encourage investigation and professional excellence in each of the professional communities represented within ISHLT. The awards are presented during the Society’s Annual Meeting Closing Plenary Session. This year, the Cardiology Excellence Award was awarded to none other than Sheba’s own Prof. Yael Peled-Potashnik.

Explaining the decision, the ISHLT official announcement referred to Prof. Peled-Potashnik’s clinical and research excellence, including her notable contribution to the previous ISHLT annual meeting, where she presented 15 breakthrough studies conducted under her leadership at Sheba Medical Center.

The first Israeli physician to receive the prestigious distinction, Prof. Peled-Potashnik responded when learning of the honor bestowed upon her: “This tremendous achievement is first and foremost the result of teamwork. It is a recognition of Sheba’s efforts in the field of heart and lung transplantation, and positions it as a world leader. I am truly honored to have the privilege of developing breakthroughs that benefit our patients in Israel and around the world.”
