Prof. Azoulay is one of the world’s leading surgeons in the field of complex liver surgeries and liver transplants. His arrival at Sheba is another step in positioning Sheba as a surgical center of excellence.
Prof. Daniel Azoulay completed his medical studies at the University of Paris and was a senior surgeon for 22 years at the Hepatobiliary Center, founded by Professor Henry Bismuth at Paul Brousse Hospital. For the past seven years, he has been Director of General Surgery, Liver, Pancreas, Bile Ducts and Liver Transplantation at the Henri Mondor Medical Center in Creteil, near Paris.
To date, Prof. Azoulay has performed more than 1,500 liver transplants from deceased and living donors as well as thousands of liver-pancreatic-biliary surgeries, including highly complex cases.

Prof. Azoulay enjoys teaching and sharing his rich practical experience with medical students. He is a member of the European Society of Surgery and Liver Transplantation and has published more than 400 articles in leading medical journals.
He has also served as a reviewer for major medical journals in the field of general surgery, liver surgery and transplantation, including Annals of Surgery, British Journal of Surgery, and World Journal of Surgery.
His extensive experience in liver and pancreatic surgery includes in situ hypothermic perfusion of the liver, surgical shunts, liver ablation and liver transplantation.
