Does multiple myeloma cause diarrhea?

Multiple myeloma itself is not a direct cause of diarrhea. However, some treatments used to manage multiple myeloma, such as chemotherapy or targeted therapies, can have gastrointestinal side effects, including diarrhea. Furthermore, secondary infections, which myeloma patients are more susceptible to due to a compromised immune system, can also lead to gastrointestinal disturbances. It’s essential for patients to communicate any gastrointestinal symptoms to their healthcare provider to ensure appropriate management and hydration.
