Does multiple myeloma cause confusion?
While confusion is not a direct symptom of multiple myeloma, factors associated with the disease or its treatments can lead to cognitive changes. Elevated calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia) due to bone breakdown can cause confusion, fatigue and other neurological symptoms. Additionally, some medications or treatments, like high-dose chemotherapy or bone marrow transplants, can have side effects that include cognitive changes. Monitoring and early intervention are key to managing these symptoms.
