Does multiple myeloma cause bone lesions?

  • /patient-knowledge-base/does-multiple-myeloma-cause-bone-lesions/

Multiple myeloma frequently causes bone lesions. These are areas where bone tissue has been damaged or destroyed by the cancer cells. These lytic lesions appear as ‘holes’ in the bone on X-rays. The lesions can cause pain, weaken the bone structure, and increase the risk of fractures. Bisphosphonates are often prescribed to help manage these lesions and protect bone health.
