Can you have multiple myeloma without M protein?

While the majority of multiple myeloma patients have detectable monoclonal (M) protein in their blood or urine, there’s a rare subtype called non-secretory myeloma, where patients don’t produce measurable amounts of M-protein. Diagnosis in these cases relies more heavily on other findings, such as bone lesions, elevated plasma cells in bone marrow or other lab abnormalities. Regular monitoring and tailored therapeutic strategies are essential for these patients.
