The thyroid is a gland found in the neck. It produces hormones that control a number of body processes, from the use of calcium to general metabolism regulation. Although the thyroid is often subject to benign enlargement or harmless calcifications, there are about 50,000 cases of thyroid cancer in the United States each year. While there are several types of thyroid cancer, papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma make up 90% of all diagnoses together.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States. There are several prostate cancer treatment types that are used for prostate cancer, including surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, radiation therapy, robotic surgery, Lutetium-177 PSMA Therapy, NanoKnife.

The vast majority of prostate cancers are adenocarcinomas, although other types, such as sarcomas and small cell carcinomas, also occur. While many men experience prostate enlargement and inflammation, these conditions do not always mean prostate cancer is present. However, any such condition should always be thoroughly investigated to rule out cancer.

The ovaries are the main female reproductive glands, responsible for producing most female sex hormones as well as ova, or eggs. Most women possess two ovaries, although in many cases fertility can be maintained with a single ovary. The ovaries are subject to developing both cysts and tumors of low malignant potential. Although often painful, these growths are usually not concerning for cancer.

There are three main types of malignant ovarian tumors: epithelial cell tumors, germ cell tumors, and stromal tumors. Epithelial cell tumors are by far the most common among ovarian cancers, while stromal tumors make up less than 1% of all ovarian cancer cases.

The endometrium is the lining of the uterus, or womb. It is vital for pregnancy and is normally shed monthly as part of the menstrual cycle.

Endometrial cancers, or endometrial carcinomas, are divided into several types. These include adenocarcinoma, carcinosarcoma, squamous cell carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, transitional carcinoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma.

In women, the cervix is the lower part of the uterus, or womb. The upper area of the cervix is known as the endocervix and contains glandular cells, while the lower area, called the exocervix, is covered in squamous cells. These regions abut each other in the transformation zone, a location where many cervical cancers originate.

About 90% of all cervical cancers are squamous cell carcinomas originating in the exocervix. A minority of cervical cancers are adenocarcinomas that form in the endocervix. Other cases of cervical cancer are a mixture of these types, known as mixed carcinomas or adenosquamous carcinomas.

Breast cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer among women in the United States. As with many types of cancer, early detection of breast cancer is crucial to a favorable treatment outcome.
