the Future of Medicine
The 2018 Israel American Council (IAC) National Conference was held recently at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida. On December 1, Dr. Eyal Zimlichman, Deputy Director General, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer at Sheba Medical Center was honored as a guest speaker in an engaging panel discussion on “The Future of Medicine.” Hundreds of engrossed participants attended this discussion, and the event was standing room only.

Sheba Medical Center is recognized as a worldwide leader in innovative medicine, and Dr. Zimlichman is recognized as a visionary doctor in Israel. He is helping to pave the way for the future of medicine by advancing revolutionary designs for global healthcare through Sheba’s new ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) Innovation Center. The ARC Center focuses mainly on digital health by introducing telemedicine, precision medicine, mobile health, big data, and predictive analytics into the market. Their driving goal is to upgrade patient care quickly and efficiently.

“We are challenging the status quo, and we are transforming the standard hospital ecosystem by introducing seamless integration between innovators, scientists, startups, senior developers, large corporations, investors, and academia,” said Dr. Zimlichman. “Our objective is to better serve patients, and to develop breakthrough cures and treatments.”

At the IAC National Conference, Dr. Zimlichman discussed the future role of the doctor and how telemedicine can radically transform healthcare. He promoted thinking outside the box when solving problems that impact mental and physical health. Fellow panelists included Dr. Gil Blander, Chief Scientific Officer at InsideTracker, Dr. Ifat Rubin-Bejerano, Director of Translational Research Programs at Harvard Medical School, and moderator Prof. Avi Almozlino, Chief of Neurology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital & IAC Board Member.

By profession, Dr. Zimlichman is an internal medicine physician, a researcher, and a healthcare executive. He currently holds a position at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School-affiliated Center for Patient Safety Research and Practices in Boston, MA. In this role, he is conducting research on the application of technology to enhance patient safety and the overall quality of healthcare. Dr. Zimlichman’s past appointments include advisor to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and he is also a founding member of the International Academy of Quality and Safety in Healthcare.
