Facts You Should Know About Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer
The most commonly occurring cancer in women in the United States is breast cancer and this is a fact. About 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime.

Men can also develop breast cancer, although it is much less common than in women. Death rates for breast cancer have been decreasing in the past two decades due to increased awareness, but are still higher than those for any other cancer, among women. As with all cancers, the earlier it is detected and diagnosed, the better the outcome. That is why annual screening and breast examinations are crucial, especially for women over the age of 40. New methods in diagnosis and treatment are constantly being introduced, including FUS (Focused Ultrasound) Therapy, available at Sheba Medical Center. If you detect a lump or change in your breast, schedule an appointment with your doctor immediately. Check out our infographic where we dive in the breast cancer facts and treatment options.
