EBMT 50th Anniversary: Prof. Arnon Nagler Shares Expertise

A groundbreaking nonprofit redefines the pediatric MRI journey at Safra Children’s Hospital through Simul Park, offering comfort to young patients.

Last month, Prof. Arnon Nagler, President of the Hemato-Oncology Center at Sheba, was invited to the 50th annual meeting of the European Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). Held in Glasgow, Scotland, the event attracted more than 5,500 attendees from various fields, including nurses, physicians, data managers, statisticians, quality managers, cell therapists, pediatricians, pharmacists, psychologists, psychoanalysts, transplant coordinators, lab scientists, trainees, and even patients.

At an event marked by dialogue, information exchange, education, and scientific productivity, Prof. Nagler participated in a series of interviews. He delved into the evolving strategies in bone marrow transplantation, donor selection, treatment optimization, and other related topics.

First Israeli Doctor Honored by EU Conference

Prof. Nagler’s attendance at the EBMT comes not long after being awarded an honorary membership at the 50th European Union Conference, a distinction that made him the first Israeli doctor to receive such recognition.

Career Achievements 

Prof. Nagler is best known for his pioneering work in the field of bone marrow transplantation for hematological malignancies over the past 25 years. He is one of the early innovators of non-myeloablative and reduced-intensity/toxicity allogeneic transplantations for both malignant and non-malignant disorders. Prof. Nagler’s primary contributions and research interests encompass hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, hematological malignancies, cord blood biology and transplantation, and adoptive cell-mediated immunotherapy, with a particular focus on NK cell biology.
