Batya Weiss

Prof. Batya Weiss MD., Director of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Unit at the Safra Children’s Hospital, Sheba Medical Center. She has graduated from the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School and completed her specialization in Pediatrics at the Sheba Medical Center. Prof. Weiss was a clinical fellow in Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, USA. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Sackler School of Medicine, TAU. The Pediatric Gastroenterology Unit evaluates and follows ambulatory and hospitalized pediatric patients with gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional problems. The unit performs Endoscopic and other diagnostic procedures: Gastroscopy – Endoscopy of the Upper Digestive Tract, Colonoscopy, and Sigmoidoscopy – Endoscopy of the lower part of the large bowel or the entire colon, ERCP, Hydrogen Breath Tests – are used for evaluation of Carbohydrates Malabsorption as well as small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth, Manometry of the Rectum and the Esophagus, Electrogastrography – a diagnostic procedure aimed to detect Gastroduodenal Motility disorders, BMR – evaluates the basic metabolic needs of patients with nutritional deficits and obese patients.
