Adrian Duek

Dr. Adrian Duek is a MD gradute from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has completed his specialization in Hematology in Argentina and then arrived to Israel. During his work at the Kaplan Hematology Institute, Dr. Duek was responsible for treating multiple myeloma patients, participated in several international clinical trials and was a member of the Israeli Multiple Myeloma Group. In 2009 Dr. Duek was admitted as a researcher at the University of Basel, Switzerland at the Department of Biomedicine headed by Prof. Radek Skoda, one of the world leaders in the field of Myeloproliferative Neoplasms. During his work, Dr. Duek was engaged in basic research on essential thrombocythemia and polycythemia vera, which resulted in support from Botnar Foundation for three years and at the end of the period, for further research following his return to Israel. After a period of four years abroad, Dr. Duek began his work as a Hematologist at the Hemato-Oncology Institute, headed by Prof. Nagler, and established a laboratory for the study of myeloproliferative diseases. Dr. Duek focuses mainly on patients with multiple myeloma and myeloproliferative diseases.

In parallel with his activities as a hematologist, Dr. Duek heads a basic research laboratory dedicated to the study of myeloproliferative neoplasms. This activity is subsidized thanks to the contribution of donors and the granting of scholarships.
