Special Therapies and Technologies
Our physicians at The Institute of Endocrinology are experienced and specially qualified to provide an array of advanced diagnostic services and therapeutic treatments.
Neuroendocrine Unit
Treatment is provided for pituitary, adrenal, and gastrointestinal endocrine pathology. We feature a dynamic testing facility and collaborate with the Department of Neurosurgery to offer novel pituitary therapies.
We also offer PRRT (peptide receptor radionuclide therapy), a targeted radiation therapy to treat NETs (neuroendocrine tumors). Customized radiopeptides are injected into the patient’s vein, and they bind to receptors on the neuroendocrine tumor cells. Radiation is thereby delivered directly to the tumor tissue.
Thyroid Unit
We treat a variety of thyroid morbidities. Our state-of-the-art services include Ultrasonography, Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), Radio Nuclear Imaging, and sophisticated hormone assays. Innovative technologies include the use of recombinant human TSH in cancer diagnosis and in-utero diagnosis of thyroid pathology.
Bone Metabolism Unit
Services include diagnostic bone density testing, clinical counseling, progressive daycare therapies, and comprehensive tissue diagnosis. We are actively involved in the laboratory and clinical research of innovative therapies for osteoporosis.
Diabetes Unit
Treatments are based on access to the newest technologies in diabetes therapy, including implantable glucose sensors and advanced insulin pumps.
